<< Back to list of speakers  Ragnar Wetterblad Company: Global Commodity Trading GCT Title: Partner to and CEO of Global Commodity Trading Country: Suecia Resume: Mr Wetterblad is a coffee professional since 1984 when he joined the Swedish coffee roaster ICA Rosteri AB as purchasing manager. After 6 years he moved to Switzerland to start a joint buying office for retailer owned coffee roasters; AMS Coffee Trading AG. Bringing the retailer/roaster closer to the producer in origin was always the main theme. In 1997 he started Ahold Global Commodity Trading AG assisting the Dutch retailer to cut cost in the supply chain of also other commodities. In 2002 he founded Sourcing Service GmbH to be able to work for more clients and with other projects and products. Since 2005 engaged in coffee production in Alta Verapaz, Guatemala as partner to the farm Volcan, the birthplace of UTZ Kapeh. In 2007 and with experience from roasting, trading and production of coffee he launched Global Commodity Trading AG. Having his heart with the producer the mission for the company is to support the weakest part of the coffee chain with price risk management, logistics and financing. The needs for this type of assistance and services are big and the response from growers/cooperatives, exporters, trader/brokers and roasters have been positive. GCT AG aims to build on the positive reactions, grow and extend the services through alliances, business from new investors in the company, partnerships, projects and sustainable investments; all in the interest of supporting the producers and their organizations with the target to empower the individual coffee grower. |
